I was born in Mexico City and began my classical guitar studies at the Universidad Veracruzana under the guidance of Maestros Cutberto Córdova and Mauricio Hernández. Driven by the desire to deepen my musical education, I later moved to Italy, where I studied with Maestro Paolo Pegoraro at the Francisco Tárrega Academy and graduated with top marks in the class of Maestro Stefano Viola at the Conservatorio “Agostino Steffani” in Castelfranco Veneto.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of attending numerous advanced courses that shaped my artistic development, including those led by Oscar Ghiglia, Pavel Steidl, Stefano Grondona, and Carlo Marchione.
I have performed as a soloist and with various ensembles, including the Trio Nahual, with whom I shared an intense and rewarding concert experience, in Italy, Mexico, Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Spain, and Peru. With the Trio, we were honored with twelve first prizes in national and international competitions and received prestigious recognitions such as the Medal of the President of the Italian Senate, Pietro Grassi (2012), and the Diploma of Merit from the Accademia Chigiana di Siena.
From 2015 to 2022, I lived in Peru, where I worked as a professor of classical guitar and chamber music at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and the Universidad Nacional de Música. During this period, I also founded and directed the Orquesta de Guitarras PUCP, a pioneering national project that brought together many young talents and played a key role in the promotion of ensemble repertoire for guitar. Every performance of the orchestra was met with enthusiastic audience response and positive critical reception.
I’m regularly invited by institutions and festivals to give masterclasses, seminars, conferences, and to collaborate on recordings and video productions. I’m proud that many of my students have received important international awards, including those from the Guitar Foundation of America Competition (USA) and the Concurso Internacional de Guitarra de Taxco (Mexico).
Since 2022, I’ve been collaborating with luthier Elvis Pajares on the design and development of high-end concert guitars, a project that connects my passion for music with the craftsmanship and innovation of instrument making.
