Duo Lux Chordarum – Hermosas y fragantes flores… (CD, 2023 Tempus Clásico)

I had the honor of serving as artistic producer for the album Hermosas y fragantes flores…, recorded by Duo Lux Chordarum — soprano Lucy Rivera and guitarist José Luis Segura — and released in March 2023 under the duo’s independent label.

The album offers an intimate and refined journey through Latin American poetry, featuring texts by Federico García Lorca, Gabriela Mistral, and Jaime Sabines, set to music by contemporary Mexican composers such as Ernesto García de León, Julio César Oliva, Enrique González Medina, Santiago Gutiérrez Bolio, and José Luis Segura.

Blending elements of bolero, concert song, and the expressive tradition of the lied, this work creates a lyrical dialogue between poetry and music. As artistic producer, I focused on maintaining expressive coherence, sonic balance, and fidelity to the poetic essence of each piece.

Hermosas y fragantes flores… is a meaningful addition to the contemporary vocal repertoire and a vivid testament to the interplay between music and literature.

Trio Nahual  ( CD 2010 Fararecords)

In 2010, Trio Nahual—comprising myself, Mauricio González, and Josué Gutiérrez—released an album on Fararecords featuring a carefully curated programme that spans from Baroque to contemporary music. We focused on rare and expressive works, including:

  • A transcribed rendition of Vivaldi's Concerto in G major, RV 532, originally for two mandolins and orchestra.

  • L’Hoyer’s elegant Trio Concertant Op. 29.

  • Damase’s atmospheric Quatre pour trois.

  • Hindemith’s vibrant Rondo für drei Gitarren.

  • Two world-premiere pieces written for us by Marco De Biasi: Eires and Eud Eires.

Our aim was to present repertoire that offers a rich palette of musical expression, from the virtuosic brilliance of Vivaldi to the refined textures of Damase, through to the rhythmic vitality of Hindemith and the innovative voice of contemporary guitar writing.

Marco De Biasi – Fonocromie (CD 2007 Fararecords)

I am featured in Marco De Biasi’s album Fonocromie, a fascinating exploration of the interplay between sound vibration and color vibration. The project, which spans compositions written between 2004 and 2007, is deeply rooted in De Biasi’s personal artistic practice: each piece is directly connected to paintings and drawings he created during those years. This release represents a pivotal point in his synesthetic research, focusing on the sonic dimension of his visual works.

On this album, the Trio Nahual performs two distinctive pieces—Eires and Eud Eires—composed specifically for us by De Biasi. These works showcase the trio’s synergy and highlight our role in realizing his creative vision. The remaining tracks feature solo guitar compositions by De Biasi, performed by the composer himself.

Fonocromie stands as a unique contribution to the contemporary guitar repertoire, firmly rooted in De Biasi’s cross-disciplinary exploration. Our collaboration reflects a fusion of visual art and musical interpretation—where each chord, timbre, and harmonic color finds its echo in the correspondent painting. Engaging with this project was an exciting and enlightening chapter in my artistic journey, expanding the horizons of chamber music.

DVD – Concerto for Three Guitars and Orchestra

Marco De Biasi (World Premiere)

As a member of Trio Nahual, I participated in the world premiere of Marco De Biasi's Concerto for Three Guitars and Orchestra, captured in this live DVD recording. The performance took place on November 23, 2008, at the Auditorium Concordia in Pordenone, Italy, accompanied by the Orchestra Accademia Musicale Naonis under the baton of Maestro Alberto Pollesel.

The work was commissioned by the International Festival of Classical Guitar of Friuli Venezia Giulia and is dedicated to Maestro Leo Brouwer. De Biasi’s composition blends intricate textures and bold gestures, offering the guitar trio a rich and expressive dialogue with the orchestra.

This recording documents a significant moment in my artistic journey and in the history of contemporary guitar repertoire, reflecting the high level of collaboration and musical understanding we developed as a trio. Performing this complex and emotional piece was an unforgettable experience and a highlight of our ensemble’s career.
