Trio Nahual
A Journey of Music and Artistic Exploration
Formed in Italy, the Trio followed an advanced training path under the guidance of Paolo Pegoraro and Stefano Viola, graduating with top honors from the Conservatories of Castelfranco Veneto and Udine, and earning a Diploma of Merit from the Francisco Tárrega Academy in Pordenone. Encounters with maestros such as Oscar Ghiglia, Pavel Steidl, and Stefano Grondona were also key to shaping our musical vision, especially during chamber music courses at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where we were awarded the Special Prize “C. Corsini & F. Basacca”.
Our repertoire spanned from the Baroque to contemporary music, with a strong focus on well-crafted transcriptions, lesser-known historical works for guitar trio, and original compositions. Our approach reflected a deeply chamber-music-oriented philosophy—striving to make three guitars sound as one, in terms of tone, texture, and intention.
One of the projects that best reflects our identity is the album we recorded in 2010, featuring rare and refined works such as Vivaldi’s Concerto in G major, L’Hoyer’s Trio Concertant, Damase’s Quatre pour trois, Hindemith’s Rondo für drei Gitarren, and two original works written for us by composer Marco De Biasi: Eires and Eud Eires. These pieces, in particular, embody our commitment to contemporary repertoire and the expansion of the guitar trio literature.
Trio Nahual performed across Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Mexico, receiving praise from audiences and critics alike. We were awarded multiple prizes at national and international competitions—eleven first prizes among them. A particularly memorable moment was our quartet performance with Paolo Pegoraro at the Mikulov Guitar Festival in tribute to Leo Brouwer, and the world premiere of Marco De Biasi’s Concerto for three guitars and orchestra.
The Trio Nahual shaped my vision of chamber music as a delicate and precious balance of listening, dedication, and shared responsibility. What I learned through this collaboration continues to inform and inspire my musical choices today.
